2009 JLYSSL U8 – U10 ALL-STAR JAMBOREE

On February 7th JLYSSL hosted a great event for our U8 and U10 teams out at Alameda Pt.. 20 teams in the U8 and U10 age groups (both boys and girls) representing MSC, OSC, RSC, PSC and Bay Oaks participated in a fun 8v8 Jamboree that got the kids out ont he soccer field after the winter layoff and gave everyone a chance to play some fun games, share community, and eat a free lunch meal.

Luis Barranco was the league organizer for this event that brought over 200 youth soccer players out to the Point. Teams brought their spirit, food contributions, and smiles out for these games. The weather was full of sunshine, the fields were dry due the mild winter we had till that weekend, and the competition was friendly.

Each team played at least three games against teams in their flights. We had 13 U10 teams and 7 U8 teams play in the Jamboree. As you can see from the photos below a good time was had by all.

Many thanks go to Luis Barranco for organizing this event, Glenn Van Straatum and Peter Hayton of Bay Oaks for assisting and running the coaching clinic. Mike Sowerwine and many other parent volunteers for just making things happen (including blowing the horn to start and stop games). Fabian Plascencia for getting the fields ready (even in the dark on Saturday morning) and to the folks at RSC for getting the goals over to Alameda for the event.
